Fighting a Migraine

  1. Mindful meditation
This works like one of the powerful tonics for pain. Meditate, and concentrate on breath when you breathe-in and breathe-out. This technique has decreased the pain severity from 10% to 60%, and the pain unpleasantness by 25% to 90%. The more you do it, the better it helps in undermining the pain. You don’t have to be an expert meditator to reap the benefits.
  1. Pay no heed to it
One word—distraction. As said before, pain is a survival phenomenon that occurs to get your attention, but as Migraine pain is chronic, it become more like an emotional issue. It keeps haunting you and demands your attention. In this case positive distraction is helpful. Look for one that positive thing at a time that makes you happy and forget the pain. Be it playing with your child, reading book or even washing dishes, try one that thing and pay no heed to pain. Remember, more focus on pain will worsen your experience.
  1. Go Devotional

Slowly reciting your favorite mantra, prayer, or verse which is common in all religion also help you alleviate pain. Even reciting the mantra for 30 seconds can subvert the unpleasant pain sensations. This internal mechanism is so powerful that it can arouse your own endorphins and furthermore, avoid the pain getting worse.
  1. Start Dreaming
if you visualize that your pain is huge, red, throbbing, try to vision it small, pink and soft. Or just imagine yourself at your favorite place, let’s say Venice, and see your worries getting lost in the dark. See yourself enjoying the water lanes, hands floating in the water, etc. Dreaming of many such things help you get over the pain easily. It will give you an enthusiasm and courage to face the pain when the time approaches.
  1. Sleep well
Sleeping less or more than you normally sleep can bring on a headache. Ideally, eight hours sleep is recommended by the experts. So, try to make this a routine to sleep for exactly eight hours or not more than you normally do.
Note that these tricks are just relaxing techniques that eventually assist your body with immense strength. You can practice them diligently as a safe aid for Migraine pain, but if you see Migraine attack coming, we would recommend you follow as your physician prescribed.
